Off To Dallas Soon for the Regional GatheringI’m heading to Dallas this weekend for the regional Pre-Convention gathering of delegates. The purpose of this is to be briefed on the restructuring proposals that the LCMS will be voting on this Summer. No, I’m not a delegate to the Convention, but as 3rd VP of the Oklahoma District, my District President asked me to attend so that I and the other VPs would be well-informed of what is happening. Some time ago I posted my thoughts on the initial proposal. The final proposal has changed somewhat and I haven’t offered comment on that yet. I plan to do so after this weekend. Restructuring our Synod probably needs to happen; it’s not a necessarily bad thing. But it’s not necessarily a good thing either. As it streamlines operating procedures it has the opportunity for good. As it eliminates the voice of smaller congregations it is problematic, to say the least. If possible, I’m going to try my hand at some live blogging, if they will allow internet access during the presentations. If not, I’ll be taking notes and work them into a blog post for early next week. Possibly Related posts: 5 comments to Off To Dallas Soon for the Regional Gathering |

Good, keep us all updated!
Internet access was $10.95/day at the Newport Beach gathering so I passed. I did post some tweets via my phone. If you do happen to tweet, please use the #BRTFSSG hashtag.
Pride not only pays more in general and on average to their fighters, you have people making obscene amounts of money (i.e. Ogawa vs Yoshida, Wanderlei vs Mark Hunt, Fedor vs Cro-Cop). Even with QJ making it to the finals in the 2003 GP and headlining Pride 28, he most likely made a damn-good pay check from that, something else I doubt the UFC would be willing to offer, let alone be able to pay QJ.
I think Nickolas was reading a different blog post than me…

Chris, don’t leave me with these children alone – they are going to stage their revolt for while you are gone! Just kidding (well, about you not going, not about the revolt…they will try and take me out). Why are they nice for you when I’m gone and just repulsive to me when you are gone? Life is so unfair.
But go, my love; fix our Synod, live-blog to the world, and come home safely to us when you are done!
I’ll be tuning in
