Other Information from the Convention

We elected Rev. Barrie Henke District President. He is the pastor of Holy Trinity, Edmond, OK and former 1st Vice President.

We also were briefed on the Task Force for Restructuring proposals and invited to fill out a survey. I did not take detailed notes on this, but one thing that stood out was the survey asked about decreasing the number of districts. As a new bureaucrat, I am now completely opposed to this There is still not a “formal” proposal for the restructuring. Some of the either/or options were reduced from the initial document, but the presenters indicated that it is still a document in draft and there would not be a final proposal until the convention in 2010.

The OK Dist received no memorials for congregations or districts, and so the only resolutions we voted on were matters of internal district business, such as encouraging and establishing a technology resource person for the congregations in the district.
